Sheepskin Premium is an incredible option for many pipers. You can get that special sheepskin sound with little or no maintenance. Most Sheepskin Premium pipe bags never require seasoning. The main reason for seasoning a pipe bag is to make it airtight. The airtight, ultra-suede fabric adhered to the outside of the sheepskin hide makes the bag airtight so seasoning isn’t required.
Champion piper Jack Lee, along with his sons, has developed excellent products for pipers, including natural hide pipe bags, available in sheepskin, goatskin or cowhide versions.
With Premium bags, pipers are able to add a zipper, which will allow you to add and moisture control items to the bag, whether a cannister, tube, etc. (Cost: $50) As well, all Premium bags have rubber grommets, so there is no tying in, except for the chanter stock. Your stocks are inserted and then clamped into the rubber grommets, making assembly and maintenance very easy. All bags can have a slight extended length also.
These bags are played by Jack Lee, winner of the 2017 Masters' Championship and the Former Winners' MSR at the Argyllshire Gathering. The bags are also played by the SFU Pipe Band.
